ABSTRACT: Assessing the role of music therapy in early childhood education is critical for identifying its developmental benefits. This research aimed to analyze the impact of music therapy on cognitive, emotional, and social development in young children. The objectives were to (1) investigate cognitive enhancements such as memory and language skills, (2) evaluate emotional benefits including mood regulation and self-expression, and (3) examine social development aspects like communication and group dynamics. A survey design was utilized for its ability to capture extensive data across diverse demographics. The study involved 120 children aged 3-6 years, selected through purposive sampling, who participated in regular music therapy sessions in Oyo State. A well-established early childhood education center known for its music therapy program served as the case study. Findings indicated significant cognitive improvements, particularly in language acquisition and memory retention, enhanced emotional regulation and self-expression, and improved social skills, especially in communication and group participation. Recommendations included the integration of music therapy into early childhood education programs and the provision of specialized training for teachers to implement therapeutic practices effectively.
